FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Melbourne, Australia — Tuesday 14 October 2025 – IonOpticks, developer of the world’s highest-performing chromatography columns for LC-MS-based research, has been recognised internationally for its commitment to design excellence, with its HeatSync™ Controller receiving a Good Design Award Winner accolade in the Product Design category at the 2025 Australian Good Design Awards.
The Australian Good Design Awards are among the world’s longest-running and most respected design recognition programs, celebrating products that demonstrate outstanding innovation, form, and function. This year’s theme, Design for Better, reflects the growing importance of design in driving positive outcomes for people, industries, and the environment.

In awarding the HeatSync™ Controller, the Good Design Awards Jury stated:
“The HeatSync™ Controller is a cohesive and beautifully executed design solution that offers usability improvements within its ecosystem. It boasts an elegant design aesthetic that is likely to challenge the status quo in analytical labs. Smart, innovative and impactful design for this category. Well done.”
For IonOpticks, the recognition reflects its belief that good design is central to scientific innovation. The company’s product development approach focuses on combining engineering precision with user-focused design to create tools that perform flawlessly and feel intuitive to use in demanding research environments.
“The Good Design Award is particularly significant because it represents independent recognition of what drives our product philosophy,” said Dr Jarrod Sandow, Chief Product Officer at IonOpticks. “The HeatSync™ Controller was designed to give researchers precise and effortless control, enabling them to focus on their science rather than their equipment. It validates our commitment to developing products where form and function exist in complete balance.”

Michael Sinden, Chief Brand Officer at IonOpticks, said the award adds an important layer of credibility to the company’s commitment to building a trusted and respected brand within the scientific community:
“An accolade like this, from a design body as prestigious as Good Design Australia, strengthens our brand in a really powerful way. It demonstrates that IonOpticks isn’t just innovating scientifically, but setting new expectations for how well-designed scientific equipment can look, feel, and perform. Awards like these help to build trust in our products and reinforce that design excellence is a core part of who we are as a company.”
The HeatSync™ product family, including the Controller, Column Heater, Regulator, and dedicated short-column housing, was developed to deliver stable, precise temperature control at the source during LC-MS analysis. Consistent thermal management is essential for maintaining chromatographic separation quality and reproducibility in applications such as clinical proteomics, bioprocessing, and pharmaceutical research.

This award represents yet another significant achievement for IonOpticks and its design and engineering teams. It reinforces the company’s dedication to creating tools that combine performance, usability, and visual simplicity; demonstrating that well-considered design holds a vital place in contributing to the advancement of scientific research. IonOpticks will celebrate alongside other award recipients at the Good Design Awards Gala in Sydney, Australia this October, recognising the role of design in shaping better products and experiences.
